First Prize: Unanimously, in the International Ibera-American Painting Competition “Bicentenary of the Birth of the Libertador Simón Bolívar” Corpoandes, Mérida-Venezuela. This is the only first international painting prize Bolivia obtains in the XX century.

1985-86
The Association of Art Critics of Montevideo, Uruguay, calls the exhibition of Raúl Lara the most important foreign exhibition of the last two years, Montevideo – Uruguay.

1997
Artist invited for the International Propal Calendar, together with the painter Oscar Pantoja, Bogotá – Colombia.

1998
Collective International Art Exhibition NY (US), with Gallery “Es-Art”.

1999
Collective Exhibition “Galería Nota”, La Paz. Exhibition “Ibera América Pinta”, Nacional Art Museum, La Paz.
The Cultural Institution Pro-Arte awards him the Artistic Merit distinction, La Paz.
The Museim “José Luis Cuevas” of ciudad de México DF, invites him to represent his country in the travelling drawing exhibition “El lápiz como instrumento de Libertad” (The pencil as on instrument of Freedom).
The Municipal Council of Oruro declares him to be a “Son of Predilection of the City”.

2000
In the city of New York, “The Fat Man From La Paz” is published, written by 20 Bolivian writers. The illustration of the book is from the artist’s hand. “Taipinquiri”,
La paz.
The Prefect of the department of Oruro declares him on “Illustrious Citizen”.

2001
Represents Bolivia in the “Forty-Ninth Two-Yearly Exhibition”, Venice-Italy.

2002
Invited by the “Dresdner Bank. Lateinamerika AG” together with Bolivian last generation painters to participate in on exhibition in the city of Hamburg – Germany

2003
Participates in the auction of the organisation “Operation Smile”, New York with one work for the benefit of the said entity.
